White Bros. Goes Bust?
While the V-Twin Expo was rumbling with the news that Custom Chrome was filing for bankruptcy, an equally well-known name was silent. Rumors that White Bros. was shutting down were confirmed when word came that drag racing legend-turned exhaust guru Terry Vance was taking over the pipe product pipeline and moving the tube benders and off-road branding from White Brothers in Yorba Linda to the Vance & Hines facility in Santa Fe Springs, California.

Vance had plenty of explaining to do at both the V-Twin show and the Dealer Expo, but for all intents and purposes, the White Bros. name is off the market. "I want to assure all White Brothers customers and dealers that despite the name change, they will receive our full support," stresses Vance.

"White Brothers technical and customer service staff will continue to serve all current and future business for the motocross and ATV markets," he says. "And now with the Vance & Hines name, you will continue to see growth and development of quality performance products that lead these enthusiast-driven markets."

But how is a dealer or their customers to know this? On the eve of the Dealer Expo in Indy, the White Bros. website was still up with outdated 2007 catalog info (although Vance & Hines website did have the news of the acquisition posted on the home page). There are still some teething pains concedes Vance, but he has the bigger picture in mind. "This is an exciting time for the future growth of our company," he says. "Having focused our efforts on addressing the explosive demand in the on-road aftermarket, bringing the White Brothers off-road products under the Vance & Hines umbrella will allow us to provide leading off-road products as well."

And it isn't just exhausts, as more ATVs and now dirtbikes are getting fuel injection. "It will open new avenues for the expansion of our fuel management technology under the Fuelpak brand," concludes Vance.
