So i have a 82' honda cb 900 custom. Its been sitting for three or so years. it was my neighbors. I was reading some stuff about these bikes that the cam chains should need to be tighten/ need to keep an eye on them. I dont have an manual on this bike. I do have the bike running. I took the carbs off and cleaned them well. i also put new fuel lines and in line filter and a screen in the tank. It was rusty! I cleaned it out pretty good by tumbling it. Is it a hard job to get at the timing chain or cam chain adjuster and weres it at. if you know of anything about these bike i would appreciate any information.

It's been about 20 yrs. since I worked on one, but the manual cam chain tensioner should be located at the front of the engine, under the pipes.

There is a procedure for getting the tension adjusted properly (and it is important), but I wouldn't trust my 20 yr. old memory. If you're planning on keeping this bike, your best bet would be to pick up a manual. Factory shop manuals are best, but in your case, Clymer also sells a pretty good one for the CB900. Most good bike shops will have one, or you can get 'em online.
