Well as described in the following link, I have a clunk that occurs on bumps and hard braking. Does anybody have any objections to the following procedure?

Sounds about right. Make sure the steering head bearings are your problem, though.
Here's some more info about steering head bearings.

Might also be the forks bushings showing some wear... or the brake pads moving inside the calipers... or the floating discs moving around in the carriers...
all kinds of stuff goes clunk in the front end.

Well I doubt its wear since it had done it since brand new....
Discs inside the carriers?
Thanks

Okay so it's a different/new style of brakes...to combat heat and such... well I am disinclined to believe that it is my braking system, since a good bump will clunk me too. Light braking it does not occur, only when I need a handful of lever does it clunk...
But does anyone have an objection to an extra 5 pounds of torque on the bearings?

Isn't it supposed to be just 5 lbs?

Well I would assume that it is already torqued down from the factory, thus an "extra 5 lbs"

Maybe it didn't get tightened down to 5 lb at the factory (or more likely when it was assembled at the point of sale).

Ahh yes...it's the shop that assembles it. I'm so used to factory flubs where I work...
Here I'll scare y'all a bit...I have seen parts come out of an unnamed aviation factory with bad corroding hardware
and oversized bearing liners... These are strict multinational government safety standards at work for your protection! Standards higher than any ISO around...

Most sportbikes come fully assembled from factory. Just install the windscreen, and check the adjustments.
