Supersport as a first bike? -- probably a bad idea...

"Don't start on a supersport", often said, rarely so well captured. Here's a fairly benign demonstration, but point made.

That could just as easily have happened on any new bike.

I tend to agree, just not with the "as easily" part.

IMHO, not much indicates it's his first bike (he's already got the gear, and is ATGATT bringing the bike home from the dealership, for one thing). New tires at fault, most likely.

someone else posted this video before...not sure if its on this site but...
If I remember correctly someone translated the German and thought he was at least a beginner rider...tho not sure if that could be substantiated.
All the gear he is wearing looks brand new...the leathers arent dirty at all(no bugs etc) as well as the helmet and especially the reflective lens look perfectly new.
The tires were most likely very slick due to the fact that they were new. He looked like he had decent control when he went over the little curb to his friend so I'm not sure.
Regardless that must have really sucked

He has good enough low speed control to maneuver down an alley, around some bikes, over a small curb, and come to a perfect stop right next to his friend, all at very low speed on a literbike. He also appears to be good enough to weave back and forth at low speed on the literbike in a parking lot behind a car without issue. He's also got enough skills to let go of the throttle immediately when the tire slips.
This is not a guy who is on a bike for the first time, and it could have just as easily have happened on any bike. The rear tire slips for no apparent reason whatsoever as far as I can see.

Agree 100% with the rest of your post, but most likely, the rear tyre slips because the tyres were under 100ft distance travelled new, with a small squirt of the throttle with the bike not upright. Thats not a good combination in itself. Add that to the fact its a carpark, generally more crud on the tarmac in carparks, and it all adds up to quite simply a lack of forethought.
Pretty sure he wasn't a newbie though, he just should know better thats all.

I'm all for giving the guy the benefit of the doubt, but when I watch and listen to the clip I clearly hear him getting on the throttle just as he leans the bike, and down she goes. That's what led me to think he messed up because of inexperience, in particular with his new litre bike...

I think that what you're hearing is the RPMs ramping up as the back wheel loses all traction.
