hi am going to be a new rider,have checked out a variety of bikes.Iam older.slightly rounded and 5'3" i have picked out the best on for me and feel comfortable with it suzuki s 40 does anyone have a feed back on it Also looking at a 1983 vt 500 honda shadow with 48.000 plus miles help

What year is the suzuki? The Honda may be fine but parts for those older bikes start getting hard tocome by. Both bikes should be fine as starters though.

Hey, krazylady.....
A s40 would be a great started bike. Not too big and powerful for a beginner.
Have you taken classes yet?

The S40 is good starter bike. It's got a very low center of gravity which makes it pretty easy to manuever at low speed.
Unless you have good mechanical skills, you might want to reconsider the Shadow. It's a 25 yr. old bike with a lot of miles on it (for a 500cc bike). It will need a lot more mechanical attention than the newer S40.

Sorry for the late reply. We have an S40 - it's a great bike, nimble, easy to handle and easy to work on. Great starter bike.

thanks everyone.start my coarse in april 21 finish on 28, then will get the bike .have made myself custom made chaps..gold colour,with some emprodery on them..did get some knee and elbow pads I have titaium knees so have to watch out for them.looking forward to my course.
