Hi Folks,

Just purchased my first MC, a 1982 Honda V45 Sabre, which will be my learner and primary transportation. Any and all knowledge about this bike will be greatly appreciated.

I hope to "cruiserize" it somewhat with windscreen, forward comtrols, back rest/sissy bar, luggage rack, and possible saddle bags. Why not just buy a cruiser? This one was within my budget, I could not have bought a cruiser for the same price.

As for introducing myself. I live in Colorado Springs, Co where I am an acupuncturist, martial art instructor, writer, and medical qi gong instructor. All this in addition to being a husband to a great wife and father to a 12 year old who has a pretty good grasp of theoretical particle physics and wants her own trike when she graduates from high school.

Other than that life is pretty simple here. I am looking forward to taking the MC safety classes and getting on the road (riding not splattered).

Welcome But if I were you I would look for transportation other than bike in COS at least by late September have a car or truck. (I am about 40 miles South and we had about 1/4 inch today.)

Most acc. for Sabre fit 84 up so you will probably need to use universal or adapt from another bike. I sometimes have used stuff but at moment only have a small tour pack. (I do have some soft bags-new and used) If looking for used hard bags and stuff try Chazwick, Donaldson, or Tote Gote Sales in Pueblo. Curtis in Springs. Or check with the Stealership (Apex and Timme often have used parts but you must ask) Also the VJMC (Vintage japanese Motorcycle Club) has chapters in both Springs and Pueblo and can be a good source for used parts. (I no longer have contact info)

Get a manual and some good riding gear (not just a helmet) And in Colorado you need gear that is also warm and waterproof!

Most Colorado motorcycle events are Harley orientated but all bikes are welcome at all but a few (usually club events)

Thanks for the welcoming. One all the way from Canada. The internet sure does let you reach out and touch someone. I am looking forward to conversing with and learning a lot from everybody here.

I am hoping to get into a safety course this weekend. Hopefully the weather will cooperate.

Thanks for the information Slimcolo. The two sites are in my favorites. I am looking forward to getting out and riding as I become more experienced, the weather warms up, and the honey-do list gets shorter. As for weather, we only received a light dusting this morning but the roads were fine. The jacket is on layaway, already have a helmet and boots, and am waiting on the gloves and overpants to go on sale.

Looking forward to getting on the road.
