Holy crap, I'm a newbie!
Holy crap, I'm a newbie!
Hey everyone, just wanted to say hi.
I've been interested in getting a bike since last summer (reading Zen and the Art over and over helps) and today realized that it won't happen unless I'm proactive so I went and wrote my class 6 license test today and wouldn't you know it I passed!
I'm looking for a Honda VT500 Shadow because I love the look, it's just before the threshold of ridiculous insurance costs and unlike any smaller cruisers it just might fit my 6'6" self.
Anyone have any good recommendations for a bike for someone my size? I'm partial to cruisers but might be convinced otherwise!

I'll definitely have to consider a Vstar 650, those are some nice bikes! But for a first time rider is 650cc a bit big? I don't want to act like a baby but I also don't want to wreck myself before I have a chance to really get into the sport!
For any of you Vstar owners, have you seen this bike on eBay? Loads of customization made this thing even prettier!

if that doesn't work just look up the item number... 370037961722
Cheers!

There are a bunch of us that have a 650 as a first bike. Once the intitial nervousness wore off and getting used to the weight...(I was used to hefting a mountian bike around...not a 500 pound machine)
, it was fine.
It's only 40HP, so it's not likely to overpower you.
As for the bike on ebay......first of all...it's in Indiana, USA. You would be looking at adding duties, taxes and huge shipping costs to get it to Winnipeg.
You'd be better off looking for something in Canada and a bit closer to home.

Well put, I'm definitely looking for a bike closer to home because shipping would probably be close to the price of the bike and I'm in no way shape or form ready to do that long of a road trip to ride it back! ...as cool as that would be.

tall riders
I am 6' 2' 230 and I had a bear of a time finding one that fit me. The shadow aero was close but the bars hit my leg at full turn...I tried so many, the v-star was good untill I sat on the M50 it was just right...(this bed is just right)
2007 Boulevard M50 Limited edition
Nice, thanks Funderbird. I'll definitely look into an M50, might end up getting a dual purpose bike in the end though... Damn my tall genes.
