well, ive almost made up my mind on a boulevard c50, but im 18 and insurance can be high, i found some companies with very low insurance, can anyone recommend a cheap insurance company? also i plan on taking the class and all that before i buy anything...

Depends on who is available in your area. When I got a bike at 18 I went with progressive which was much cheaper than Geico or Allstate. I went on my own for it instead of getting under my parents so I paid $1800 for a 250cc cruiser. Now fast forward to 23 and a 500cc cruiser for $500 all full coverage mind you. It seems Progressive is new driver friendly if you were to go on your own for insurance.

When I started riding at 19 I went with progressive too... 450/year for high coverages, low deductibles on an 01 Volusia as a first bike.

I wonder if my location caused Progressive to want over a grand a year for liability only for an 18 year old Katana 600.

I live in NYC, one of the worst places for auto insurance but full coverage car insurance costs 3x as much as my bike insurance. Then again maybe there's isn't much competition in your area.

They were much cheaper than any of the other major insurers such as GEICO, Allstate, etc.

I have AAA.

When I was 16, I had a 200 CC which was $300 a year.

When I turned 17, I got a 2005 600cc, and is currently $1,200.

I'm 18 now, but still it's $1,200.


AAA was the cheapest for me.

Oh cool - I didn't know AAA did motorcycle insurance! I have them for my car insurance. Heck, I might even get a bit of a discount from them. I haven't gotten a ticket in years and I've had AAA Mid-Atlantic for insurance for years now.
