2000 Yamaha YZF 600r

#1 Unread post by IznastY »

Two questions:

1. The Back light on my instrument panel wont light up. I checked all the fuses and they are all okay. Any other ideas? or areas that I can look?

2. I cannot start my bike with the kickstand down. Even in Neutral. The only way my bike starts is when the kick stand is up, and that is either in neutral or in gear with the clutch lever engaged.

Any help would be appreciated

Have you checked the bulb for your backlight?

Most bikes have a starter lockout on the kickstand to prevent putting it in gear with the stand down. Are you in neutral when starting with the stand down? If it still won't start like that, the kickstand switch could be buggered or it could be thinking the bike is in gear, when it's not.

Or it could be normal for that model bike. Did it start with the stand down before?
No Witnesses.... :shifty:

This is a bike I just purchased from someone used.

I havent checked the bulb behind the cluster.

I AM in neutral when I try to start the bike with the stand down.

If however I start the bike with the stand up, and it is in neutral, and I put the stand down, it cuts off. (the N is clearly indicated on the dash and lit)

I am thinking its a bad Neutral switch, But where do I get a new switch from besides the Yamaha Stealership? Is there any good sites for parts for bikes?
