Hello TMW, iam new to the bike world and have a few questions. i bought a 1982 suzuki gs750tz and have had trouble getting it to start this spring. i have changed the battery and all fuses and have had the starter solenoid refurbished, but iam still getting a "clicking " sound when i try to start.im thinking its the starter motor and am wondering how to test it to be sure or if maybe there is another problem. any advice would be helpful and appreciated.

If your hearing a series of clicking noises when the starter motor should be turning you battery doesn't have enough charge to spin the starter and your solenoid is chattering. Get a new battery or charge your up.

did the engine ever turn over? can you bump start it going down an incline?
you may have a flat spot on the starter armature, or a bad relay,
that is just based on my knowledge of electric motors not motorcycles

Sounds like the starter solenoid is clicking but the motor isn't turning.

I'd try jumping from a known good battery like a car battery first. If it doesn't work, I'd closely examine and clean all of the starter electrical connections. Then I'd replace the starter relay. Then I'd remove the starter for testing (I'd do this earlier if it's easy to do on this particular bike).
