Really?? I thought it wasn't. Sorry bout that.

New biker buys SV650. I compliment him and tell him that's an awesome bike. I say:

"Have you taken the MSF course? Please, PLEASE don't think about riding on the streets til you do!"

"Im definitely taking the msf course whenever they get an openning, but I've got a buddy that is going to be teaching me to ride until then."

"You may be interested to learn that riders taught by a friend or family member are overrepresented in crash statistics compared to people who taught themselves.

I highly, highly, highly suggest you leave the bike parked until you get some professional instruction.

If you value your life, that is."

"Easier said than done right now. My car is crapping out again, and I can't drive it anymore. I'm going to take the MSF whenever they get an openning, but until then I'm riding safe.

I'm not a moron. Look at the crash statistics again and you'll find out that a good percentage of those people are morons. I pay attention and ride slow. If you saw how I drove a car, you wouldn't worry about me on a bike. I'm overly-cautious since I got hit by that f'ing mustang."

[someone else says "You will be fine."]

[later in the thread]

"I actually wanted to start on a 250, but I bought the 650 because I don't want to deal with trading in the 250 in a few months because I can't ride highways."

""Can't ride highways."

The Ninja 250 accelerates faster than my GA and has a top speed of over 100 mph.

Only a few pounds less than my Virago that has no problem cruising all day at 75 mph.

The "can't ride the highway" bit about the Ninja 250 is just bull perpetuated by people who have generally never even ridden them. That dumb myth is right up there with the Sportster being a "girl's bike."

The Ninja 250 goes 0-60 in under 6 seconds, has a 1/4 mile time of under 15 at 88 mph, and has a horsepower to weight ratio twice that of my Grand Am."

Blah blah blah. It wasn't all that interesting, really.

In the EU Yamaha has a 125cc version of the R6. YZF-125R? (forgot the name and too lazy to google it.) It would be nice if they brought it over here and maybe make a 250cc of the FZ series.
One thing you can count on: You push a man too far, and sooner or later he'll start pushing back.

It's GAOC, what do you expect :peep:

Funny, I knew a kid who was a member there. He dropped his ninja 500 on his foot doing a wheelie. Sorry, TRYING to wheelie. By dumping the clutch. With never having done a wheelie before in his life, or even had much practice. Though then again, his boss WAS wheelying the snot out of his KTM dual sport... High cost to try to look cool for the boss.
