Recommended tire presure

#1 Unread post by Funderbird »

I have 260 miles on my bike, the rear feels loose when I am riding. My buddy told me it was tire pressure. I checked and I am at 31.5 for the front and 32 for the rear. Is this right? Anyone know?

Dunlop recommends 32 PSI front and 36 PSI rear for their replacement tire, the D404.

So I would suggest that your rear tire is a little low, but not nearly enough to cause any loose feeling.

Check your manual for the recommended pressure on stock tires.

"Well here's you problem" (JOKE)

The very first day I road the bike, I stuffed the manual in to the seat strap. Needless to say when I got back it was gone. I don't hold things on the bike any more. I tried to download another one with no luck...

Your bike doesn't have a sticker listing the correct tire pressure? My Strom has one on the swingarm, I think my CB had one on the left side of the frame. I'm sure you could also give your dealer a phone call for the pressures. They might even be able to hook you up with a new manual.

I go 3-4 lbs less than max pressure listed on tyre. I then drop about 4-5lbs at a time until I get optimum handling then add a couple pounds (usually about half way between bike's recommendation and max pressure.) This is done after scuffing in. Bike recommendation in manual is OK for OEM replacement tyres but may not be right with a different brand or model of tyre

My trail bike lists different pressures for
soft (mud and sand)
intermediate (dirt and loose rock)
hard (rock and macadam)
where I ride I go through all three conditions in about 100yds

and above all
