Found the forum and enjoy reading through it very much.
I am going to start riding again. Many years ago when still in HS I rode a 1948 '61 H-D side shift. Could tell some hair-raising stories abt that bike but not now. I am interested in getting back into riding. Since I prefer USA products I'm looking for a used HD. To start out on a 883C would probably be my first choice. If some of you experienced riders think this choice is not a good one for a 'newbie' say so.
My BRC class will start next week. I'm going to take all the safety classes available to me.
I'm sure I'll enjoy this forum.

Our number of Harley owners has jumped up a bit just in the last week.

So you have bike experience from some time ago eh?

OK then I'd recommend a Dyna/Superglide or Lowrider. Sportys are OK (I have a 1200) but a Dyna will take you round town & across the country easy & it's a relatively light bike for a HOG.

Remembering that ol 61, it vibrated so bad that you couldn't tell if your hands or feet were where they were suppose to be! I co-owned it back then with a couple HS buddies. Most took it to 80, I nailed 95 once on an old 2 lane in MN.. Thank G there was no traffic cause I ran down the middle of the road.. We were not riders like most are today, it was just a whim with us. No prior training, just crazy guys daring each other. Remember the 'front-end wobble', well that bike had the tendancy to do it!! ? (lucky to be alive)!!
Today I just want to cruise. The speed limits up here are just fine! As for the choice of bike, well, it will be a used one for sure.
Thanks for the suggestions, currently looking. Have found several lighter Japanese and one HD to look at.
