V-Star not recognizing main fuel tank out of fuel

#1 Unread post by xottams »

Yamaha V-Star 650 not recognizing the main fuel tank is out of fuel.
Bike is using the full 4.2 gallons of fuel, but does not run out of fuel from the main tank(3.4 gallons) and continues to use up the reserve portion. So if you're not paying close attention, run out of gas, and are stuck without reserve.

Sounds like the fuel pickups at the petcock, inside the fuel tank, have fallen off. If you have small hands you may be able to fish them out and reattach without pulling the fuel tank and petcock off.
