Bike Help

I ran across a 1998 Honda Shadow in the the Orlando area that is priced around 2900$. The guy says that he moved from California to Orlando and that he had to drain the fluid out of the bike to move it. Is this normal or will the bike have some problems with it that he isn't saying. From picture the bike looks clean. He mentioned a scratch on one of the pipes. Does a shadow 750 get good gas mileage? Thanks for all the help. I know you guys are probably getting sick of the posts about all the bikes that I'm looking at, but I'm nervous about getting ripped off buying used. Thanks again!

I don't think it's uncommon for fluids to be drained so a shipping company to move a bike. I might be concerned if it has sat with no oil in it for an extended period of time, but it probably wouldn't cause any problems.
I'm not sure how much Shadows go for, that price seems a touch high, but I could be wrong.
Questions I'd be asking are "How many miles on it" and "How long since it was running".

Yeah... reading all the stuff on here about garage queens has opened my eyes up to that. The bike looks nice in the pictures and he said it has 25000 on it so that seems like it would keep it well run enough. Also he commented about having most of the service papers and a clear title. I have been looking at several web sites and this actually seems like one of the best prices. Especially for the styling of the bike. Some of the other Shadows just don't show the same stylistic flair as the ACE. So everything seems up and up and if I can't negotiate him down below 2500$ I'm not gonna buy the bike but it seems like my the nicest bike with the most available details.
