I remember when it first came out in '84. Great straight line bike. The one thing I just couldn't get over was those silly looking non-functional scoops on each side. Did they ever become functional in later years, or are they still fake?
I'm wondering what someone is going to do with that much power? I recall that the mid-80s versions had pretty dismal gas mileage. Gotta wonder what this bike will turn in with the bigger engine.
Oh well, I suppose no one ever bought a V-Max for it's practical qualities

Sweet Jebus, that's insane. The poor passenger doesn't even get a backrest to lean against.
The way the scoops tuck in toward the middle of the cylinder banks, it looks possible that they'll be functional this time. Certainly there are several other bikes that use ram air now, so it wouldn't be terribly groundbreaking.

I don't really care to much for it , but I know there are a lot of people who will love it. I did the math and the V-max is not much better then my Buell(power to weight) The V-max sould have been made lighter.

I don't care for it, sure it has 197hp but that's one heavy bike .

But I can tell you from experience it rides nicely for how heavy it is! And amazing how fun that is to ride...

You all have to keep in mind that the new generation of bikes are the results of massages, cosmetics, or minor technical tweaks that most people will never really notice or test.
I saw the road test in CW, and still don't know why they built such a heavy bike with a bunch of horsepower that is only safe, in their minds at least, to top out at 138, and still with a tiny gas tank.
It seems more and more that bikes, like everything else, are evidence of a "get less substance for more $" global outlook.
But, regardless, even at $18k, they will sell 'em all. But I hope nobody really thinks they're getting a sporty bike, cause it ain't. It looks more like just another manifestation of the "littledick" syndrome.
