allright, all i have is a little hook below the seat which unlocks.
am i supposed to put of the d-rings on the helmet thru there?
the strap is not long enough for the lid to rest on the pillion when locked this way, and otherwise it hangs down on the exhaust pipe.
am i missing something?

I think it's customary for the helmet lock to be on the opposite side of the exhaust, isn't it?

Does your bike have pipes on both side?

Ah, well, that explains it, then.

Generally, the lock is on the side without pipes, and the helmet hangs down by locking the D-rings.

If you've got pipes on both sides, .... You're pretty much S.O.L. unless anyone else has any bright ideas.

Might just look into installing a helmet lock elsewhere on the bike, I suppose.

okay, where does one go about finding an aftermarket helmet lock and where's a good suggestion to put it. Cause, unless I'm completely blind my FZ6 doesn't have a helmet lock. Checked the owners manual twice and still nothing.

Some bolt onto your handlebars and are literally a padlock that attaches to your bike.

The other kind I saw replaces the holding bolt for your brake or clutch lever. It is a little peg with various "outjuts" one is designed to hold a padlock in a little groove. So you slot your D-rings over this peg, and then lock a padlock over groove preventing the helmet from being lifted away.

Both options keeps your helmet WELL away from any exhaust pipes.

As an afternote, it was literally impossible to fit a fullface helmet onto the supplied helmet lock for my ls650. Because of where it was, and how it was mounted you couldn't get your fingers in there to close it, and then remove the key. And good luck unlocking it again if you manage to lock it.

There is also a lock that mounts to the license plate bracket that holds 2 helmets.

Note: None of the helmet locks are meant to hold a helmet while you are riding. Only when parked.
