I'm not sure what you mean by "total-loss wiring system". The only thing I can think of would be to replace the battery with a large capacitor. In theory the charging system will charge the capacitor which discharges through the coil generating the spark. You notice I said in theory. I ran a system like this back in the mid 70s on a Triumph and it was ok as long as you didn't ride at night. Or for over an hour. I don't recall anybody doing this on a Honda.

Johnj I think he means run with battery only. Remove generator/alternator, regulator etc all electrics except the battery and ignition system. Lighten that load for racing. (we don't need no stinking charging system, If a battery will last entire race) A friend of mine (about 25 years ago) ran a Sportster like this (also stripped oil tank and pump, gas tank was a pint or quart pressurized metal jar) for 1/4 mile drags.
