Hey there. My starter relay is fried and can't be fixed. Any ideas where I can get one? I thought it was fixable, but it wasn't - you have to cut wires to get the unit open. I struck out at oldbikebarn.com and the local Honda store. I saw one on ebay, but I'm hoping to avoid that route if possible. If I'm gonna pay full-price I'd rather not buy one that's just as likely to go out soon itself. Not in a huge rush - I just bypassed it and am content to kickstart for the time being.

you guys have a bike junk yard? they are usually pretty helpful with that kinda thing...you may pay a little more but at least you'll know who it came from and who to throw it at if it doesnt work.

Yeah, we do. They are called bent-bike. I hate going there - they are rude and condescending and I honestly wonder how they stay in business. Even though I bought a ramp, two helmets, a lock and a couple of other things there, I always have the feeling that I'm imposing when I ask them anything. I understand their 'no returns on electrical components' policy, but their stock is so haphazard and frequently unlabeled that I really feel like I'm taking a chance. Their only guarantee is ' it came off a running bike' and they don't want to let you test stuff in the store - the reason being that 'most folks don't know how to use a tester'. The whole running bike thing is a joke - you'd understand if you saw their used bike stock - they store many of them in the open air in a region where it rains 160 days a year. I've been there ten times and never once saw one of their bikes that was shiny. Anyway, that's a rant. They have one so I suppose I'll give it a try but I won't be shocked if it's already fried.

doesn't bent have a couple of locations? have you tried them both?

anyway... starter relay? Are you talking about the magnetic switch positioned on the back of the battery? If so I've got an extra you can have, I'm pretty sure it's good. I'll see if I can test them out tonight to make sure both are good (my starter doesn't catch, and I never use it anyway so I'm not sure if either work or not)

Wow - I'd love a 'you-pull-it' yard. I suppose I should be happy to have such a large junkyard nearby - many aren't so lucky - I guess I'm just bummed because it could be the coolest place ever but instead I always just want to get it over with as fast as possible.

There are two locations - I haven't even tried the one down South but I probably should. The store I don't like probably just has a grumpy manager.

Yeah - it's right behind the battery - starter relay or solenoid or something - mine was frozen shut so whenever I connect the battery the starter motor starts running - even when there's no key in the bike. I've bypassed it for now and can still kick-start but I'd love to get the starter going again.

Yeah, if you have an extra I'd love to get it from you. I'll pay your postage and a few bucks for your trouble to send it to me - I'd rather send you a few bucks than those guys! My email is in my profile if that thing tests out ok. Thanks! That's a generous offer.

they were clicking away like crazy when I put 12 volts to them last night, so they both work. I sent you an email.
