Reverse gear kit

#1 Unread post by moran4x4 »

In Europe, they are using a reverse gear kit on car powered by motorcycle engine.

Can somebody help locate the kit??? :frusty:

It would help to know what kind of bike or bike motor you're talking about. The only European bike I know of that uses a car engine was made in France many years ago... can't remember the name but it used a Citroen 2CV engine - and it had a reverse gear.

The shed where I park my bike is at the bottom of a hill in my backyard...i used to wish for a reverse gear on my bike, 'cause it's hard to pull a bike backwards and uphill at the same time!!!

Then, I got the bright idea to back it in to the shed when parking...genius!!

I believe some goldwings have reverse gears, it may be worth looking at parts for them, and seeing if you can adapt them. Although.....

1) I'm not sure about the idea of driving a chain backwards (It'll probably be alright if your bike uses pull backs, but I've heard that some bikes have auto tension adjusters.

2) the new gear box may be larger

3) wouldn't it be easier to back the bike down the hill, and then drive out of your garage forwards.

goldwings dont actually have a reverse gear as such, just a switch to run the starter motor in reverse.or so im told.
ive seen the hyabusa motor used in a three wheel type thing that leans into corners like a bike, dont know if its got a reverse though.xjrjohn
biking isnt a matter of life or death, its far more important(bill shankley, well almost)
