BRAKE QUESTION!

#1 Unread post by new2riding »

so i just got my bike and thought that the chain needed a good cleaning (it's an 04 suzuki gs500F). i cleaned and lubed the chain, so i figured i'd take it out the next day. well, i think i might have got some of the chain lube on the brakes because my stopping power is now reduced. so i picked up some brake cleaner and went to work, cleaned the brakes twice and i still have the same problem. am i looking at having to get new brake pads??

You cleaned the rotors or did you actually take out the pads and clean/sand them?

I just sprayed the rotors with brake cleaner, didn't take out the pads.

I would take out the pads and check them. I assume you are talking about the rear brakes, correct?
