Hey guys, I got about a year before I get my learners permit..
I have a few questions
1. Is this a good place to learn MSF?

2. Is $320.00 a good price?
3. Do you guys think its safe to learn on a 430cc buell?

Any tips before hand would be great I have been reading TMW for awhile now and I am learning new stuff..
I hope by the time I get my learners permit, I will be able to handle a 500cc+ bike to learn on...Only because I have read the 250 doesn't handle the Freeway very good and I will be on the freeway A LOT!

P.S: After MSF is there any wait times? Like do I have to wait 2 months of riding 50+ hours to get the riding part and get my full license?

$320 sounds a little expensive, I spent $250 on mine. Some states defray the costs. However, if you are able to take the course at an earlier date, I would have paid up to $500... Just to be able to start riding sooner.

I don't know about that specific program, but my understanding is that there are a lot of HD dealers that give the MSF course.

The only problem with a 2007 Ninja 250 on the highway - is wind. If you can handle that - you'll be ok on a 250 (or at least that 250). I haven't had the balls yet to wind my Ninja out on the highway, and I've taken it up to 85 mph. I'm reasonably sure it could do 100... It also out accelerates most cars out there.

Not sure I see much of a need for a larger bike, actually, given the great mileage the 250 gets compared to large bikes.

I don't know about the Buell, if it is a Buell blast, my understanding is that it is a good starter bike.

Personally, though, I've slopped it up with throttle and clutch that I'm glad I don't have a lot of power at my figertips, yet.

No wait time after MSF course, except to go to DMV and pay my dollars for the upgraded license.

About the bike. I am already riding a YZ450F and I love the Bike. I love Yamahas in general.
I am 6'4 and 240 pounds. Just got done bulking <Weight Lifting>. I really don't know if I am too tall, or to much for a Ninja 250... Thats why I kinda wanted a 500cc+. And look at the bright side, IF you can handle a Buell 492 you can handle a Ninja 500.

I'm paying $25 for the MSF BRC. In Michigan it's subsidized by the state if you take it at a community college or certain other places. You might want to look into programs like that where you live.

I am looking at the list I found somewhere < Cant remember where?>
And the community colleges require 15+ of age and $25.
But I mean, meh.
Moneys not an issue, tbh. And $320 at 14 is perfectly fine
But then you look at it
By the time I start driving and get my permit, I will be about 14 and 9 months- 15 years old already... Then I can go to the campus MSF and pay $25...
I think I would hit up campus if I could just go to it for that and get it over and done with

I still have some learning to do, but I cannot function well on an 85-125, at all.
Atm, I have about $2,000+ saved up and I am looking for a 2 stroke 250, or a yz450F although I do NOT want a 2 stroker. Nothing below 250 and nothing above 450, eh?

I expect when I am 15 I could get the permit and just sell my dirt bike and get a cheapo R6 or, by then, the YZF 250 should be out I may give that a shot if it is...

Oh OK. I thought you were taming that fire breathing MX beast on a track or something.

YZ450F is waaay too much bike for most people. At 39" seat height, too tall for most riders too.....although at your height, it shouldn't be too much of a problem.

YZ250 is a ring-a-ding two smoke. What you want is the YZ250F which is the 4 stroke thumper.

I honestly want a 07 yz450f... I would tame that beast in a few months and be racing on tracks in no time
