I found a bike thats around 100 miles away acording to yahoo maps. Should I try to drive it home or find one closer to home? I have never been on a bike before, but whenever I buy one I still got to get it home somehow. Would this be good riding practice or a bad judgement call?

Are you for sure buying it? Or Just checking it out? Whats the engine size?

Please ansswer these.

Personally, I would recomend taking MSF or a safety course like it before you ride your first bike, unless its in a parking lot. Umm, can you get anyone else to pik it up for you... (you drive there.. with a buddy, he rides it home)?

A 2005 KAWASAKI Vulcan 500 LTD. Just checking it out, but if I like it I might just buy it.

Definitely arrange for someone to either help you load the bike onto a truck or find a close trusted friend that is very expierenced and is liscensed.

Get a friend to do it, or get a truck. You definitely want some parkinglot time, and take the MSF before you hit the road with traffic. Now, if it was Orlando, I'd offer to help you out :) I always like riding new bikes...lol

Or find someone with a M/C trailer - that is what I did.
DON'T ride it home.

know anyone with a full size pickup?
that's the way to go, just use tie-downs on the handbars and maybe some wheelchaulks since it doens;t have centerstand(?)

failing that, and if it's the deal you want on the bike you want and it checks out allright, try renting a uhaul one way.

If you don't have a cyclist friend, and you can't get a truck...

Maybe you could offer to drive the guy home if he rode the bike out to where you live? Sure, it's 100 miles, but if there's no other options...

Just.. don't ride it. No one's first time should *ever* be in a live-traffic situation, let alone highway riding.
