Hi Guys.
Well I just got my first service done on my 1300 yamie and am I ever PISSED OFF.
When I first bought the bike back about 7 weeks ago I asked the owner how much for the first service and he said no more than 300 bucks everything in. I was okay with this. Well when I went to go pick up my Baby and got the bill today it rang in at a colossal 417.bucks. At that moment I thought yup okay are you sure about that. I asked twice about the price and they said that's what it works out to yup it's 417. So I paid it and was thinking to my self I just spent 21 thousand bucks there in the run of 7 weeks just extra buying of stuff you know bike stuff, Anyway when I left the store today I saw one of the other owners and he said so how did it go I said well I thought you said less than 300 bucks for everything and he said how much was it I said 417 bucks and he comes out with well we had to adjust the valves and do a little extra work, And I said where on this bill does it say all the extra work that you did. He couldn't answer that question. Do I go Back??????
Now This is my thrid bike that I had bought off this place and never had this much of an issue, Not enough to voice my opinion about it anyway. I don't expect anything for free but come on don't #$%^ rip me off and think I will be back either.
From the same place i bought a 250 v star and the first service was 340. bucks.

Well Guys what do you think I should do?????

My dealer said my first service would be $300-something, before parts. Could be they needed parts or supplies?

dude I am so glad I went with the 1100, I was almost writing a check for the 1300. $7995 out the door for an 07, well I spent $700 more for an 08 1100 pearl white Classic. When I sat on her she said "I am your baby and you are my daddy!" My first 1000k break in service was $121 total

I paid $230 for the 600-mile valve adjustment service. The lead mechanic was also very helpful in answering a lot of my questions on issues that had recently cropped up over the last 200 miles.

600mile service is just a glorified oil change. Even the ultra maintenance intensive Ducati does not require much more than that.

I don't know how they get away with it. I paid $68 for my first service on my warrior.

yamaha also recommends a valve adjustment at the 600 mile "initial" service, and they're a pain in the "O Ring" to get at, hence the higher price

You just spent $21,000 on a bike and you're throwing a fit about a $117 charge on service?

Geez man. Go ride that thing.
