tire question

I noticed that I have a nail in my tire it's off to the left but, not in the sidewall. I have a tubeless tire and one of the shops here recommends putting a tube in it and take the nail out instead of buying a new tire since the tire is pretty much new

Has anyone done this before? I ride my bike between 30-65 mgh usually. Is it not a good idea to do this?

I think I've heard of people doing this, along with patching and plugging. I really like having the best tire possible too, so I would bite the bullet and get a new tire.

I'd get a new tire. I have ridden a little bit with a nail, mainly becaues I kept putting it off or "forgetting".

Get it taken care of, you'll feel better about it.

Where is a good place to buy a tire online I need a 150/80-15.

Also is it ok to run a different brand tire on the front and back?

Regarding different brands, I don't see why not as long as the sizes are correct. Maybe one of the more experienced riders has a different opinion but I don't know that 2 tires with different tread patterns will affect ride quality.

Good question. Dirt riders do it all the time. I have Dunlops in the front and Michelins(had Kendas before it) on the rear of my KLX250S. It's a DP bike so I have it on the superslab at 75 mph all the time and never noticed anything unusual, on or off road. All my pure streetbikes currently have same brand tires however....

Look here to find places to buy tires.
You will get much debate about mixing tire brands, tire models within a brand, bias-ply and radial, yadda yadda yadda. Call different shops in your area and I'm sure you'll find someone who carries the discount brands. What do they charge to mount and balance a tire you buy on the Internet vrs that you buy from them?

Well I know a guy that owns a tire machine and he races bikes so he is going to put the tire on or tube in for free

I guess I should buy a new tire and not take the chance.

I had a tube put in one of my bikes and it was fine, however unless you're doing the work yourself you won't save a lot. So then you have to ask yourself -- is saving 80 bucks worth the psychological burden you will have to live with?
