A Honda Rebel or Suzuki Marauder

#1 Unread post by sunnynewbie »

Hi all,

I'm looking to get a second hand bike now that I've passed my CBT. I'm looking to get either a Honda Rebel or a Suzuki Marauder.

Which one do you think is better? Which one passes the test of time?

thanks for any help!

Which Marauder do you mean? In the USA, Marauder usually means the 800cc Marauder. I know in some markets the GZ250 and GZ125 were both called Marauder. You said "CBT", so I assume you're in the UK?

Assuming we're comparing apples to apples, I'd pick the Rebel over the GZ250 simply because it is a twin, the GZ is a single, and the twin should be smoother. The Rebel has certainly passed the test of time - it's been in production for 20+ years with very little change.

I test rode a GZ 250 and it really put-put around. Pretty choppy. I havent riden the rebel but the virago is also a twin and is much smoother.

Well, I learn something new every day!! I didn't even know there was a 125cc version of the Rebel. Bikez.com says it's a twin, so it will still be smoother than a single. But I don't know anything about its reliability - never seen one here in the USA.
