Hi my name is dean , I'm 54 and am going to retire at 55. What I'd like to maybe do is buy an electra-gluide , and when retired, find some way of going south for several months in the winter . I'm from winnipeg and it's uaually -30 in winter so driving south in feb.on my bike is out of the question. I'd like to know if there are any bike owners who some how ship there bikes south in say febuary, then drive or fly down , get their bikes then head to texas, or mexico etc. to kill most of the winter. I got a price of $500 to have a bike shipped to vancover, where I could meet up with it there, and then drive south. Any way , I'm kind of new at this sort of thing , so any ideas anyone could give me regarding vacationing/ touring in the winter dawn south, would really be appreciated.
Thanks Dean

First of all....
and welcome to the site from the wet (no typo) coast.
If you do decide to have a bike shipped to Vancouver to start your ride, you need to be prepared to hole up in some places sometimes...or at least only ride between 11 and 2 or something like that.
We don't get much snow, but it can get icy. Washington State and Oregon can also be prone to similar weather as here.
You could always fly to the states and buy your bike there.
On the other hand, if you go prepared for cold weather and are prepared to bide your time in case of icy conditions, then that souunds like an awesome trip.
