Well, I want to start off by thanking everybody for their input and I talked to 2 diff. wrenches and they both agree that it is a no go. My life has crumbled into a million pieces..haha
There thoughts were this
1. Hellbent or shorty exhausts are meant for high compression motors that do not require much back pressure and would not recommend shortys for less than 9 or 10 to 1 motors(aka-our do require alot of back pressure and hk and v+h make shortys??-not the same thing and they have millions of dollars of development to make sure the exhaust is tuned)
2. If i did go this route i would have to re-jet again and probably go through a couple of sets of baffles and re-tune and do it all over again until the bike ran in specs (which it will never get close to stock specs with hellbent..aka..loss of more power)
3. The techs noticed I had close to 37k miles on my bike and it only being an 03 and he said--hell no..i would burn my valves out within a year and probably need a head job, not to mention back pressure(lack there off in big pipes could cause "detonation" in the cylinders..also leading to costly maintanance.
I told them well you always see them on old hd's and choppers!!
There response was..those choppers have s+s and revtech motors built for high end compression and hp and the old hd's all got oil leaking from their heads and engine casings and are on there 3 or 4th head and valve train because the same thing aint good for them either..Our honda motors were not meant to do this..lol
So, alas my idea has been squashed and to rub salt in the round..jesse james hellbent pipes are on sale for $199(usually $1000) from west coast choppers..haha but of course not for our bikes but thats ok..it was an good idea and i love the reliability of our bikes more than any "cosmetic" appearance and you never know about something until you indulge in it. I love my bike too much to try to hurt its performance in any way as I am sure we all do...
Thanks to everybody for thge support..
