What's my next bike?

I've just taken a new job with a really substantial increase in pay. That, coupled with the shorter commute means I get to get a new bike in a few months. What should I get?

Here's the situation: I'm currently on a V* 650 Silverado. With my 100-mile a day commute on the interstate, it's been great to have the windshield, big butt seat, and largish saddlebags. My new commute is only going to be about 40 miles a day, and that on a 2-lane road that is actually one of my favorite short rides. Big windshield and comfy seat are now less of a factor.

I do need a pillion and it has to look good with a sissy bar because my wife and daughter ride with me at times. At the moment, I'm looking with lustful eyes toward the Raider--red with the blacked out engine.

Assume money's no object (though it is, within reason). Post pictures. Make me drool :D

Personally, I would keep the 650 and invest the pay increase for the future.

I know, boring, but it is really the best of both worlds, especially since your commute is now less than half of what it used to be.

Now that my dad's been heard from....

Yeah, it's the sound idea, but I can both invest for the future and live for the now. Live each day as though it might be my last, but plan like it might not.

Get one of those VerSys Kawasaki's or a Ninja 650.

i am in a similar situation as we speak. I am going up and inlcuding to the loan process and then if its approved I will contemplat which way to go. If the loan isn't apporved no decision to make. I will know in a couple days maybe even later today.

good luck with your situation the economy does give one more to ponder your "father" isn't to far off his advice :)

Triumph Bonneville, America or Speedmaster, Ducati GT1000, Moto Guzzi something?
BMW F800GS?

Really I think you should get a KTM Superduke. :-p

I love the Bonnie, except that it's underpowered for what I want. Maybe I could wait for the new 1700 that's supposed to be out in 09...

Then again, I might want to ride in the rain...

Are you only considering cruisers?

Get a VTX 1300. They are nice, bigger, and still cost effective.
