Monkeywright's MSF thread...

So, I finished the MSF classroom portion on Thursday night, missed one question on the test that I thought was worded poorly, but oh well...
Got a neat reflective safety sticker for my helmet, saw some people that thought the class provided scooters, or at least "automatic shift" motorcycles...
But so far, very cool experience. I do feel like I'll have an edge over rookie riders who go out unprepared. Lot of interesting people in the class, all ages, sizes, and ...psychotic tendencies...
TOMORROW - 6A.M.
I start the riding class. God willing, I'll pass and be on my way to shopping for a bike and gear next week!

ditto that. and it is frustrating for it to be so early. my closest instruction site was about an hour away. and i'm always late so i made it and hour and a half away in my mind to make sure i got there on time. man that was an early two mornings.

Yeah, they're sticklers here. Early is on time, and on time is late. Late has to go on standby for a future class. I've got FOUR alarm clocks set to make sure I wake up, remember WHY I woke up, and get out the door...

Good luck tomorrow monkeywright.
It's better to have your class early in the day to avoid the heat.
You will spend a fair amount of time sitting on the bike waiting to take your turn.
It gets hot and they don't even allow you to roll your sleeves up.
Besides, you have the rest of the day to curl up in the fetal position and rock and mutter to youself like I did.
You'll be fine.
Good luck.

WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO what a great first day! Never stalled it, never laid it down, only need to work on rolling OFF the throttle when I pull the clutch in on quick stops.
It's so much fun! I'm on a Nighthawk 250, which is too cramped for me, but I'm taking turns at speed so far. There were a few people in the class trying to do 5MPH in third gear, which made for some rough exercises, but otherwise, all good! Tomorrow's the big important day!

It is indeed a great feeling. One thing I can't remember if I added -

I heartily second this to anyone thinking about taking the course that lives in a warm area - go for the 6AM session if they have one. Getting up that early SUCKS, but it was nice and cool all day, easy to focus, and it just made those few short moments in third gear feel even better.
One of our instructors teaches in the San Fernando Valley as well, where they were dealing with 104F temps. We were pretty close to the ocean, between 65 and 70 all day.

Congratulations!
I sweetly remember the freedom and weight off my shoulders the day I passed. Enjoy it!
