Just signed up for Basic MSF course

Hello everyone! New member and I have a question about the MSF course. Looking for someone that may have taken it in St. Charles, MO. from the rangers, and exactly what I should expect. I've been browsing for awhile, and picked out a helmet today for the class. I got a Fulmer, which seems to be pretty good, and following the Helmet guide it fits very nicely.
But if anyone has gone through that course, if they can let me know I would appreciate it.
I can't wait!

I just finished the class in Los Angeles, but I'm sure you'll love it. Having your own helmet that fits well will definitely be a plus - theirs were all pinchy (and VERY used). I was expecting that since I have a weird head shape, but I didn't want to buy before the class, because CycleGear gives a 15% discount to people who complete the course.

Pay attention to your rider coaches, keep a smooth clutch, throttle, and brakes, and you'll do fine!

Hey monkeywright! I read your posts the other night about your experience, and it sounded like you had a good time! I'll keep your words in my mind as I'm going through it.

don't know when you'll take it (what the weather will be like) but if it's the least bit warm just go with a long sleeved t-shirt or maybe a short sleeved t-shirt with a button up over top. you will be amazed how hot it will get on a great feeling day with the engine heat, asphalt heat, gloves, pants, high-tops and helmet (especially if you got a full-faced helmet).

other than that, enjoy. i really enjoyed my class. hope that helps.

Quite a few folks around here have taken MSF and posted their experience. I suppose a search would bring you lots of results as "MSF" is mentioned - a lot! Happy sifting

The curriculum is the same, nationwide - if the course is listed as the "Basic Rider's Course."

Show up ON TIME, and ready to get started (10-15 minutes early is better). Ask questions, have fun.

For the range: If you've got small hands, you might want to bring your own gardening or even batting or mountain biking gloves (so long as they're full fingered), to wear.

Wearing full motorcycle gear can actually be a problem on the range especially if the weather is HOT. You'll spend a fair amount of time sitting/waiting in line to ride, and the heat will wear you out. The site you signed up with should provide a list of what you need to wear for class. Go with that. Your own helmet is good, though.
