I have not been able to synchronize my carburetors, so I thought I would try to replace the gaskets between the intake boots and the block. I found there were no existing gaskets between the block and the intake boots. The intake manifold gaskets I purchased have a waxy/shiny side and a dull paper side.

What I am wondering is which side of the gaskets should face the block?
