Howdy from a Texan in Iraq

So I just found this place, and after an hour or three (basically all of today's free time) I've gotta say this is one of the best forums I've found period! Sane advice, I particularly like the thread about 600cc Supersports as first bikes. I've seen more than my share of mangled bodies caused by such over zealous head first jumps (or dumps rather) into unprepared riding.
I'm not going to claim to be the next Rossi, truth be told, I haven't ridden on the street in a decade (and I'm 21, so tell me I've made some bad choices before!) I did my fair share of off road riding as a kid in West Texas, after which I moved to Malaysia, and evidently lost my mind in more than a few respects - one of which included riding around a 125cc Suzuki scooter thing (you know the type, long seat, basket up front, but not quite a Vespa.. still had 5 gears, and big wheels.) I'm not sure I'd drive a truck in .my were I to find myself there again, but the past is the past. After I moved back to the States, I didn't get to ride, but it was always on my mind.
Fast forward, 8+ years later - I'm in Iraq. It's about 120 degrees out if anyone's wondering, but hey I finally have the means to get a bike of my own! R&R comes in August, and I'll be buying an SV650 in short order. Here's to hoping I can pick up some good banter, and information on this site - it looks promising so far.
