Rough Road

#1 Unread post by uley »

Hello - so today I rode over a stripped road or serrated might be a word to describe it - they took the top layer of asphault off - I am sure many of you have ridden over it - I have heard it may make your wheels wobble alittle - well after today I would say a little was an understatement - anything over 35 mph felt like the handlebars would come right out of my hands -- maybe I hit a real rough one but that was fun! Any tips on how to ride this surface - just slow it down right? Then after that there was new apshault that bordered concrete and there were black oil or asphault lines all over the concrete from the new asphault - I didnt feel any looseness or skidding but just wondering if I should be careful around those areas ?

Ah yes! The fun ones!
Personally the best way I've found to ride them is to keep a really loose grip on the handlebars and just let the bike take it's course (unless of course it's going out of it's lane). Basically they USUALLY groove those things so that your lane stays your lane. My mom's Maxima with the stock tires tracks those things like no other, man that's unnerving the first few times.
