My class was not an MSF class. It was actually given to us by a Sheriff's office that does have certified instructors, but we got to do it on our own bikes. Anyway. We did figure 8s and weaving and stopping etc. But then I had to ride home. I hadn't actually rode it there. My husband did when he got off work and I met him there with the car. (He works in that county and had ridden to work last night).
I was nervous about riding 40 miles home. The worst part was the major highway. I did fine on it until I had to turn. I didn't check my gears and ended up trying to start in 2nd.

It was kind of scary, but I got off to the side, didn't panic, and got going again. I did that a second time, but then I started checking at every stop. I don't know where that problem came from because I haven't had that problem before, so I'm guessing it was just because I was tired or something. On the bright side, my bike is an 82, so when people see me having trouble they think it's the bike and not me unless they are familiar with bikes....and today was gorgeous, so I doubt many of the people I passed did know.

Anyway. I think I was actually more nervous about getting lost than I was about riding home. But once I got to a place I knew I was fine and enjoyed the ride a bit more. I actually felt that I was doing pretty well towards the end. I mean, I did well at the beginning, but it's easier to enjoy it when you know the roads...at least for me as a beginner.
I did take a wrong turn and ended up going 60 miles instead of 40.
My legs are sore after all of that. I think it was mostly from the class, but it was a good day.
