My wife has been wanting to get a bike for ages. I finally broke down and registered us both for the weekend course. Afterall, why should I be the only one with toys - like I'm not getting something out of this too!

Before I even started researching things, I promised myself that I would not think about buying a bike until after the course. Well, temptation set in when the transimission blew on one of our cars... hmm how nice it would be to put that money into a bike to get us through the summer... NO - can't give in.

So here I am stuck waiting until the end of July for our course. In the meantime I'm learning a lot and reinforcing some things that I already beleived. I've got to stop looking at all those great used bikes for sale... maybe they will still be there in August

welcome aboard and welcome to the bike world.its going to be worth the wait i promise you.i decided to go for my bike licence and then my car licence.that was more than 25 years ago,still havnt got round to getting a car licence.still having to much fun.xjrjohn

But, hey, if you see a really super crazy good deal, maybe you can just pay the person, and leave it at their house until August.

As winter approaches, bikes tend to get traded in while people upgrade in the following spring. Likewise, bikes tend to get snatched up more during the spring/summer, but you're also likely to find a good selection of used bikes later in the year (autmunish). Never stopped in to a dealership during the winter... wonder if they have good prices? Bet they're really eager to sell a bike during the non-riding months.

Anyways, enjoy the ride, and read up on all the good new-biker friendly articles we've got.

Good on ya for taking the course first. You and your wife will love going for rides together. My wife used to ride pillon, but now with three kids running around.....

Welcome aboard! It's hard to be patient, but once you take the course you'll have a much better feel of what you're looking to buy. My husband and I shared a Honda Rebel (250 cc) for a few months after we learned how to ride. Now we each have our own bikes. What fun! Enjoy your riding course.
