Hello All -
Just wanted to introduce myself and give a great big THANKS to all who share on this forum. I'm delighted to have found this site and all the topics, questions and responses - so many apply to me!
After being a passenger for many years, my hubby's purchase of a sport bike convinced me that I wanted to learn to ride myself. I took the MSF course in June '07, bought my Rebel and am now closing in on 1000 miles.
I'm glad to have found so many of you willing to share your experiences, advice, tears & fears. I'm an older (50) beginning rider and all the posts help me to know I'm not the only one who questioned their bike/ability because of low tire pressure or is afraid to lean/countersteer into curves. It reinforces my belief that I have to do it at my own pace, and above all practice, practice, practice. Thanks again to all of you who offer encouragement, constructive criticism and your experience to those of us who are newbies.

Congratulations on your accomplishments and Welcome!

+1 on your point of view to absolutely progress at your own pace. It's good to be challenged by the more seasoned riders in your circle of friends, but stick to what you know and do well and build from there. Motocycling is so much fun! :D

Thanks RocketGirl.
More practice this weekend. Empty parking lot, some tennis balls in place of cones - time to work some more on turns & corners, & swerves. I'm getting more comfortable, but still "fight" the bike on most curves and really need to get after emergency swerves. I know it's because I'm not practicing what I've learned. The long rides are great, but each time I find something I need to work some more. So it's back to the parking lot for more slow-medium speed practice and work on it becoming second nature. :biker:
