TMW Members Meet on the Cabot Trail
jstark and his lovely wife met up with my lovely wife and I on the west side of the Cabot Trail in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia, last week and we have photographic evidence. They (from New Jersey) were on vacation while we (from Ontario) were on our honeymoon...

Gummi doesn't tell the whole story...
He and I knew each other would be in Nova Scotia last week, and had tentatively agreed to meet on Cape Breton island that day. But between his cell voice mail not working in the USA, mine not working in Canada, Mrs. Stark and I not bringing a laptop (that's a whole 'nother story
), and his internet connection being spotty.... working out the details proved difficult beyond anticipation. That morning, Gummi knew we were on the Cabot trail running counter clockwise - I knew he and Angie were staying at Baddeck, and guessed they might be running the Trail, and maybe even clockwise as it's the more usual direction. I didn't exactly remember the model of bike he rides - I knew it was blue, and knew it was one of the big touring Harleys, but didn't specifically remember that it's a RoadGlide. About Angie's bike I remembered even less, only that it's a Harley.
We were literally in the middle of nowhere - between Cheticamp and Pleasant Bay if anyone knows Cape Breton - and a bearded guy on a blue RoadGlide flashes by, waves, and I waved back........ and yelled on the radio to Mrs. Stark, "Honey, that's Mike!! I think that's Mike.....it's gotta be Mike!!!!!!" And she radios back (more calmly) "He's turning around.....".
It was Gummiente (Mike) and Angie, newly married. He had recognized me and Mrs. Stark, too. Considering our combined closing speed was probably 120 mph, I think we did pretty good to recognize each other. I slowed, Gummi caught up, yelled, "There's a pull off ahead!" and that's where we met up, and where the picture was taken. It's near French Lake (which is Nova Scotian for "middle of nowhere"
)

So, was the get together as short as the one in Gananoque???jstark47 wrote:Gummi doesn't tell the whole story...

I'm glad that you could get together again, I enjoyed our ride together and the brief time at Mike & Angie,s house.

And Mike, what's with Durham?? Isn't that just down the road from Walkerton on the "Bruce"???

Walkerton is a short 35 minute ride from Durham, yes, but I'm not sure what you mean by the "Bruce". Durham is in Grey County, while Walkerton is in Bruce County, is that what you meant?dr_bar wrote:And Mike, what's with Durham?? Isn't that just down the road from Walkerton on the "Bruce"???
