Ready to call it quits or continue wearing a t-shirt

#1 Unread post by chadvicki »

I started riding this year and bought a Yamaha Vstar 1300. No problems riding. I love riding. My issue is that winter is coming and I want to be safe. I have been looking for a perforated leather jacket in my size and can find nothing.

I am 5"9 and weigh 280

I have tried Frank Thomas 4xl Textile jackets and they dont close. Frank Thomas leather size 54 and that was worse.

My question is if I do find one are my sleeves going to be hanging to the floor? And second where are the jackets to be found?

This is very frustrating. :frusty:

Please any help would be so greatly appreciated. Just plain black is what I am looking for. Maybe pics of your jacket on or links to the same jacket would be great.

Thanks,

Chad

This outfit asks for both your chest and height measurements. They might be able to set you up with gear that fits. A bit on the pricey side, but you get what you pay for.

Hmm. Both First Gear and Olympia offer a pretty good assortment of TEXTILE gear.

Since you're an "unusual" size, you might want to go into a shop and try stuff on. (You can end up wasting a lot of time and money shipping sizes back and forth doing this online - not a savings in the long run) Call around to see who carries them and what size range. A good shop should have at least ONE jacket of each of the upper end (and lower end) sizes on hand.

Yup. Will cost you more money but hopefully you can go home with a jacket that FITS, in hand.

Thank you for the help.

I went to Cycle Gear in my area and they had one 4x of Frank Thomas Textile jacket. That was the largest of all their jackets.

Does the Harley store sell jackets? and if they so do they all have HD logos all over them?

Fox Creek does have what I am looking for since you provide them the measurements.

There has to be someone out there with the same or close to it size with a jacket that fits them well???

I have a Tour Master Advance 3/4 jacket in size XXL. I'm 280 at 5' 11" and it fits perfectly for me. Got it from New Enough. Its adjustable in the arms and chest, too. Pretty sure it's not made anymore, but there's bound to be something similar or better offered by Tour Master. Pretty sure New Enough will let you order the same thing in two sizes and if one doesn't fit, send it back and they'll refund the money.

EDIT: I think this replaced it http://www.newenough.com/protective_app ... acket.html

They do, but not all have screaming HD logos on them. Some are very subdued. It would be worth stopping by an HD dealership just to see what they have; the one near me has tons of stuff, and in some widely varying sizes (for men, anyway...apparently women only come in size tiny and like to dress like hookers...)

For riders that require custom sizing please call 800-777-6499, cycleport@motoport.com. Hope that helps. :tmwsign:

Do you know his weight and the size of the jacket he went with?

Thank you,

Chad
