Hey every1, I just joined forum and i'm a complete motorcycle noob. I just bought a 05 ninja250 last week it keeps shutting down after first gear. I pull clutch all way in, kick down to first gear, then slowly release the clutch, then bike jerks foward few inches then dies. What is wrong w/ bike or mayb i'm just starting bike wrong. Please help. Thanks

sounds to me like your not giving it any gas as you let the clutch out. Have you taken the MSF course? have you ever driven a stick shift vehicle?

I have never driven a stick shift vehicle before. I wish I can take the MSF class but my work schedule is making that impossible. I will give a lil gas when releasing the clutch and c. Thanks for replying

I'm also thinking that you need training. Have you tried Riders Edge at a Harley Davidson dealer?

Thanks, ofblong. I gave it a lil gas and it works. I do need to work on my shifting. It gets very jerky when i shift, especially when I down shift. I certainly do need training. Thanks for the link on that, johnj. Found that there is a class very close to my house. Thanks guys for help
