Putting my bike to bed.

#1 Unread post by waylander »

well, it's getting to be that time.
Need to start thinking about putting my bike to bed for the winter. I hope to be able to ride her for a few more weeks, but it's Alberta and we could have snow by the end of the month.
So.

I have read that I need to do a few things before I tuck her in.

1) drain and change the oil.
2) remove plugs. oil cylinders, gap and replace plugs.
3) check electrolyte levels and connect battery tender.
4) wash bike!
4) fill tank and add fuel stabilizer
5) cry (just a little)

Anything I am missing?

Tx

:groan:

If you need help with that igloo - I learned how to make one years ago in Ecology....

There was sleet today west of Edmonton. Hubby rode through it.

That is one thing really nice about living in the South. Even in the dead of winter, there are ride-able days here and there. :)

Since we got it two weeks ago in Banff, it's not even a surprise any more. Leaves are already falling down.

I dont change my oil till the spring hits. I leave the old oil in the pan until then. Just how I do it and no I dont start it up until I drain/clean the pan.

With that said last year I got to ride till christmas time. After january hit it was 2 months of snowing every single day. Then 2 more months of off and on snow. 4 months of not riding =[. Which would mean you would have to change the oil AGAIN before you start it back up if you changed the oil before putting it up for the winter.
