Hey guys! I've been riding around for months now and ive been seeing people park their bikes in weird places, like on the sides of buildings on the walkways and stuff. I'm just wondering where you are allowed to park your bikes in california

In the parking lot.
Unless you ask the owner of the property if it's ok for you to park it in a different location.

Around here on base there are designated spots for bikes in the lots. That is nice too.

I love doing day trips with other riders. It's a big bonus that we can fit three bikes in one parking spot; that's two V-Star 650's and my Virago 250. Came in real handy at one of those small historic towns that are notorious for limited parking on Main Street USA.
Haven't spotted too many sidewalk parking unless it's a small scooter used for deliveries and such.
