I am almost certain I will go with one of these. Any reccomendations as far as which one best?
I like the idea of getting the 650 to hone my riding skills, but I am afraid that it will not do well on the interstate especially when I opt to allow the wife on board with me. Does a 650 have the power needed? Or would the 1100 be better?
I am 6' 2" 250lbs and have many miles on the dirt and maybe a few hundred on the road.
V-Star Silverado 650 or 1100?

I'd say wait a bit and get the new V-star 950 Tourer. It has FI and a belt drive. It's still air cooled. Comes with lockable leather hard saddlebags. It's much less expensive than the 1100, and will have almost as much power while getting gas mileage that's almost as good as the 650.

I would vote for the 1100. I was deciding btwn the 650 and 1100, but in a custom not a silverado, and am very glad I picked the 1100. I got used to it pretty quickly and like the extra power. I thion that will be a bigger factor for the silverado as you will be hauling a passenger, gear, etc. The 1100 still revs pretty high on the freeway but I imagine a 650 would do that more.
That 950 does look cool though.

the 650 should be enough to carry you down the highway, but going 2up with full luggage on it might be asking a bit much of it on the highway (especially if you live at high altitude).
That new 950 looks very appealing, I suspect its intended to take the place of the 650 in the model lineup. may be worth looking into especially if its cheaper than the 1100.
