2005 Gold Wing

#1 Unread post by Beer Runner »

I took my bother-in-laws Gold Wing out for a good long ride, WOW what a nice ride that bike is. With 1800cc I thought the bike would be hard to handle, but it wasn't.
Well It was nice to take it for a run, but at $35,000.00 I don't think I'll get one anytime soon.

He must have some serious upgrades on that thing since the MSRP for the ABS Wing is under $20,000.

Most of the serious touring bikes are in that price range now.

I haven't had a chance to ride the newest Wing yet, but I hope to try one at the next Honda demo ride. Closest thing I've experienced was a few years ago when I took a new Valkyrie out for a run - now that was one heckuva hot rod!

Just remember that we are talking Canadian dollars here. Makes for some pretty steep price differences, especially on the high end bikes.

My uncle has one, and 35G's sounds about right, he got a couple of extras but nothing that would account for 15k. It's the conversion, and tax to bring the darn things across the boarder.
Of course I'm generalizing from a single example here, but everyone does that. At least I do.

You want to check out a sweet ride??? Take a look at the Yamaha Royalstar Venture... All those extras you have to get on a Wing, most of them are standard on the Yamaha. With a $16,999.00US base price, that's one big bang for your buck. Sure it's only a 1300, but with the torque of the V4 engine, you shouldn't be having any problems there. This is the bike I'll be purchasing within the next year...
