OK, so where do you get distilled water for topping up the battery?

I can buy distilled water at just about any grocery store.

I just use water from my dehumidifier saved up from the summer.

NO NO the FDA allows drinking water to contain some trace elements not found in distilled water. Sodium Ben. is used in drinking water to preserve flavor. Make sure that label states "distilled water" and not "drinking" or "pure" water.

Some places it may be called "purified water". DO NOT use drinking water in a radiator.

the original question was about topping off the battery. why does distilled water have to be used for the battery?
