Opinions and Ideas

I wanted to get some opinions on a members only powersports store that I am starting. I am offering members anywhere from cost to 20% over our cost on all parts and accessories. Membership fees range anywhere from $30.00-$300 year. We have access to pretty much all the main distributors and others plus OEM parts. I just wanted to see what other members of this forum thought.

Thanks
Rich

Not the least bit interested !! I am surprised that you are soliciting on the forum actually.

Where will your store be located? Will you have a burn-out pit?

I am not trying to offend anyone on here if I did I apologize. I was just looking for opinions and what people thought about it and what better place than a motorcycle forum. I was not trying to solicit anyone I was trying to put the information out there so people could understand what I was doing. The reason why im doing this is because I watched a guy spend $20,000 on a bike and I couldn't even give him a free T-shirt or the guy that has been going to a dealership for 20 years only gets 15% off. I may be asking for a fee but its not near the price tag these guys have paid.

I was just asking where you were going to locate. Are you talking about some kind of shoppers club where the members pay to get discounted prices from the manufactures? (the burn-out pit and weekend cookout sound better to me)

:)

The dealership I bought my scooter from has a similar program for bike maintenance when you buy a bike...one flat fee, then you don't pay for any routine maintenance for 3 years. It would be nice if they jacked the fee up just a squoosh and included a blanket discount on everything..and offered it apart from the maintenance package.

Theoretically, it's a decent idea. But the membership is going to have to be inexpensive and the discounts really good to get people to bite--and it's going to have to be a physical store. It would be incredibly difficult to compete with the major online motorcycle sales, since they have the power of bulk purchasing behind them, and they can offer huge discounts without a membership.

Why not just open a store with good prices to the general public?

If you can offer the discounts and perks that other stores don't then customers will be hovering around your store instead of the competition.

The only section of the market that I can see buying products throughout the year and every year would be the dirt bikers, and competition bikers. (they tend to break things alot).

For the rest of us, I can't see where I would buy enough of any product to make it worth it for me to join a buyers club.
