Just Picked up 05' R6!!!!!!!!!!!

For the girlfriend that is...
I couldnt believe it... My girlfriend has been wanting to ride with me for sometime now and has been talking about getting a bike. We went to biketrader and ebay and she couldnt find anything SHE liked. Well a friend of hers told her to get the R6. This is because his 2nd degree black belt wife rides one who out weighs my girlfriend by about 40 lbs. Well my girlfriend bought the red R6 yesterday which I picked up today during my lunch period. She has never ridden before and I'm nervous as hell for her to try to ride this bike. Its out in the parking lot now so I have to go ride it home. Just thougt I'd share.

And nervous you should be, unless of course you're looking for a way to get out of the relationship... permanently. I hope she signs up for the MSF course and doesn't become a statistic.

What a conscientious sales person. Be very careful Dennis27 - a very nice bike, but damn, that's a ton of bike for a new rider. One slip of the wrist and bye-bye...

woah.... man, that R6 is quite a bit of bike for anybody.... infact way too much bike for a beginner..... I just hope she is REALLY careful.... but I would STRONGLY suggest getting her an old used ninja 250 or something for her to learn on, so she doesnt hurt herself.... I mean.... if she does, its your loss too.

A friend of mine picked up an '02 R6 for her first bike after completing the MSF course. She's dropped it twice in the past two days, including one coming to the bike meet today, right where I rode past without a problem 60 seconds earlier.
It's expensive to replace those fairings.
Honestly, I would see about returning the bike and starting her on a Ninja 250. Buy one used for $2000 to $2500, ride it for a couple years and sell it for a couple hundred under what you paid for it. She'll be a better rider because of it and magnitudes of power safer.

thats a bad situation to be in, id take the keys from her and keep them for a year or so. get her on a smaller bike no question at all. its now your responsibility to keep her safe and not riding that r6. cant imagine the guilt if she drops it and gets seriously hurt, or the costs of repairing the brand new bike from a simple tip over. she might not know any better but hopefully you do

You really don't loke this girl and want out of the relationship? There are easier ways.
Seriously, start her on something else. The R6 is a great bike but not for a beginner. If you want another opinion I can have my wife post on this. She rides a sport bike now but didn't start on one for good reason.
