What's the difference between bolt-on's and slip-on's? Are they the same thing? I'm thinking of replacing my exhaust.

Slip-ons are normally just the rear section after the collectors or head pipes. Bolt-ons are a complete system from the heads on.

I'm little bit confused. The head pipe is just a hollow tube. What's the difference between replacing the slip-on and replacing the entire exhaust system?

thats a big differnce. With new full exhuast the head pipe is usually larger and where the pipes merge are in different spots too because that can effect performance too.

An aftermarket header might also have a different exterior coating that might be more resistant to blueing.

I put a Scorpion (carbon fiber) slip on my R6 and it works great, and gave me just enough noise to get noticed in traffic. Check them out the web site even has a thing where you can listen to your bike with the pipes on.
