How about changing the more popular local area "threads" into their own forums? The continueing Alberta thread is becoming pretty scattered...

Humm, that is an interesting suggestion! But then the forum list could get quite long as there are many topics that could warrent that status...

There's a phpBB mod out there that lets you have "folders and subfolders" in the forum lists, so you have the "Canada" folder that contains the "Ontario" subfolder that contains the "Ottawa" forum. I looked at it when my forum was trying to do regional stuff, but for us the volume wasn't worth the hassle. It's busier here, though.

Thanks Mendel for the advise. I would like to add that, but with the constant phpBB security updates I feel that it is better to keep the forum as unmodded as possible. Would be nice to have though one day. :D

I'm curious as to why if this is a Canadian owned and operated forum, why is the USA listed ahead of Canada in the Local Forums?

LOL, this is such a simple question but it is taking me way too long to come up with some really great PC answer which I've typed, deleted, retyped in a different way, deleted, sat and thought about it again... haha.

The truth is they are just in order of the number of visitors per country the forums gets, USA, Canada, UK, Australia and then the rest of the 185 countries. So I thought I'd make it easier for the America's and the Canadians as good natured as we are wouldn't mind them going first. :D

For those that are unaware, Total Motorcycle is visited by motorcyclists in almost 190 countries around the world:

Albania, Algeria, Andorra, Angola, Antigua and Barbuda, Argentina, Armenia, Aruba, Australia, Austria, Azerbaidjan, Bahamas, Bahrain, Bangladesh, Barbados, Belarus, Belize, Belgium, Bermuda, Bhutan, Bolivia, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Brazil, British Indian Ocean Territory, Brunei Darussalam, Bulgaria, Burkina Faso, Cambodia, Canada, Cameroon, Central African Republic, Cape Verde, Cayman Islands, Chile, China, Colombia, Cook Islands, Congo, Costa Rica, Croatia, Cuba, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Dominica, Dominican Republic, Djibouti, Ecuador, El Salvador, Egypt, Estonia, Ethiopia, Falkland Islands, Faroe Islands, Fiji, Finland, Former USSR, France, Gabon, Gambia, Georgia, Germany, Ghana, Gibraltar, Greece, Greenland, Guam, Guadeloupe (French), Guatemala, Guinea, Guyana, Grenada, Haiti, Honduras, Hong Kong, Hungary, Iceland, India, Indonesia, Iran, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Jamaica, Japan, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Kenya, Kuwait, Kyrgyzstan, Laos, Latvia, Lebanon, Libya, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Macedonia, Madagascar, Malaysia, Maldives, Malawi, Mali, Malta, Macau, Martinique, Mauritius, Mexico, Micronesia, Moldova, Morocco, Monaco, Mongolia, Mozambique, Myanmar, Namibia, Nepal, Netherlands, Netherlands Antilles, New Caledonia, New Zealand, Nicaragua, Nigeria, Norway, Oman, Pakistan, Palestinian Territories, Panama, Paraguay, Papua New Guinea, Peru, Philippines, Poland, French Polynesia, Portugal, Puerto Rico, Qatar, Romania, Russian Federation, Rwanda, Saint Kitts and Nevis Anguilla, Saint Lucia, Saint Vincent and Grenadines, San Marino, Sao Tome and Principe, Samoa Islands, Saudi Arabia, Senegal, Singapore, Slovak Republic, Slovenia, Solomon Islands, Somalia, South Africa, South Korea, Spain, Sri Lanka, Sudan, Sweden, Switzerland, Syria, Tadjikistan, Taiwan, Tanzania, Thailand, Tuvalu, Trinidad and Tobago, Togo, Tonga, Tunisia, Turkey, Turks and Caicos Islands, Uganda, Ukraine, United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom, United States of America, Uruguay, Uzbekistan, Vanuatu, Vatican City State, Venezuela, Vietnam, Virgin Islands (USA), Virgin Islands (British), Yemen, Yugoslavia, Zambia, Zimbabwe.

Amazing eh? Now just imagine all of them wanting their own local forums! Whew!!

I think though it might make sense for any of the growing areas of traffic. There are only 3 or 4 areas where we have that many users who use those forums. So Calgary should have a sub-sections. I guess Ohio should too since we have a few regurlar meetings. But it doesn't make sense for Alaska to have its own sub-forum. Maybe you could just base it on a request per area - and even list that in the forum heading. If someone feels they carry the traffic to have a sub, they can request it from you. What do you think. And I'll be the first to ask for Ohio.

I can't make true "sub-forums" but I can make a Topic called "Ohio Local Sub-Forum" and make it a sticky so it's at the top.

I don't want to be weird about that idea. If we have a few areas that have more specific traffic, it might makes sense. I think you guys have more traffic regarding local plans, but I know our Ohio thread has become quite long. Don't change anything yet, I would like to hear other opinions.
