Odd noise using Battery Tender

Preface: I picked up a random battery charger from Walmart last week because my Battery Tender shipment was delayed. This worked fine for me.

I got the Battery Tender Plus yesterday and plugged it in. Immediately I started hearing a hissing/sizzling noise coming from the battery. I unplugged it and tried again later and had the same noise coming from it.

Has anyone else run into this or have any ideas on what to do?

Do you have it on the right settings? A lot of times they'll have Amp Hour settings on them or voltage settings.
You can charge at up to 1/10 of the Amp/Hour rating safely. Also make sure you have it on 12 V and not the 6 some come pre-set at.

The Deltran Battery Tender Plus doesn't have any adjustable settings.

I should add that it takes about 5-10 seconds after getting power until the noise starts. It gets progressively louder from that point.

My Battery Tender has never made any noise or caused my battery to make any when I've been close enough to hear it. Generally, a 'sizzling' battery means it is being overcharged. Something a Battery Tender isn't sposed to able to do, I didn't think it was even capable of such an overcharge.

All I can think of is to check the connections to the battery posts and make sure they have a good solid contact. Take an amperage reading off the battery when it is making the noise to be sure it's not getting zapped with extra current.
